At 3:30 on Saturday morning, the torrential downpours looked like they might threaten the Lyndon Area Chamber of Commerce 39th Annual Stars & Stripes Festival parade in downtown Lyndonville. By 5:00 AM the rain stopped, by 9:00 AM things were drying out and people flocked to the parade route.

The parade Grand Marshall was Dick Boera, who was honored as the 2009 Citizen of the Year by the Northeast Kingdom Chamber of Commerce. Dick is in his mid 80′s…and he still skydives.

The Bread & Puppet Theatre, based out of Glover, Vermont. Somebody still has the guts to stand up to our government.

The Lyndon Outing Club had a fundraising dunk tank set up. They will host a Motorcycle Rodeo next Saturday.

The view coming DOWN the chairlift at Burke Mountain, prior to the evenings finale. There was a brief shower around 7:00 PM that failed to dampen enthusiasm. The Sherburne Base Lodge was filled with live music, a barbecue, a beer tent and hundreds and hundreds of friends and neighbors.

Fireworks, glorious fireworks, probably the best EVER in Caledonia County.

We’ll see you next year…
