A Barre man is dead after the experimental helicopter he was flying crashed at E.F. Knapp Airport in Berlin Friday. Police say 63-year old Ron York of Barre Town was at the controls when the aircraft appeared to have mechanical problems as it approached the airport. York died instantly when the copter crashed about 2000 feet short of the runway and burst into flames.
