Flood

April 29th, 2008 · No Comments

Combine the remaining snowpack melt with 2+ inches of rain, and many streams and rivers started flowing over their banks on Tuesday afternoon. Flood warnings remain in effect until at least 10:30 AM on Wednesday. Early Tuesday evening, while staff photographer Alyssa Nichols was at a rehearsal for her ballet recital in two weeks, Wellington Worldwide set out and captured these pictures in and around the famous intersection of Routes 5, 114 & 122 at the north end of Lyndonville. And this first report:

Nothing catastrophic yet…but the water is definitely rising along the
Passumpsic River in Lyndonville. Low-lying areas around the Millers Run
Bridge, the Route 5/114 intersection and the fields behind the Municipal
Building were flooded by dinner time.

Listen for updates Wednesday mornings.
